Known as the Castrol EDGE Custom and Classic Show, the show-within-a-show will complement CRC Speedshow, an annual weekend-long extravaganza of all things automotive which has grown in popularity with each of its six years.
The seventh edition of CRC Speedshow takes place over the weekend of 20 and 21 July 2013 at the ASB Showgrounds in Auckland and for the event’s managing director, Ross Prevette, the Castrol EDGE Custom and Classic Show makes a perfect addition to next year’s line-up of attractions.
“At this year’s CRC Speedshow, it was absolutely fantastic to feature the New Zealand Hot Rod Association’s 50th anniversary national hot rod show as part of the bigger show and people told us how much they enjoyed seeing this amazing array of hot rods from around the country,” says Prevette.
“This year we’re taking that idea and tweaking it with the help of the teams from Castrol EDGE and respected automotive publications NZ Rodder and NZ Petrolhead. With Castrol EDGE having been involved with CRC Speedshow right from the first show in 2007, we’re rapt that the Castrol team see value in expanding their association with our event.
“On display in the Castrol EDGE Custom and Classic Show will be selected muscle cars, hot rods, street machines, hi-tech Japanese and European custom cars, and custom bikes.”
Prevette adds: “The show, which will fill hall one at the ASB Showgrounds, is also a competition for the cars’ owners with great prizes from Castrol EDGE and other sponsors for each of the categories and overall show winners. CRC Speedshow visitors can also vote for the prestigious people’s choice category.”
Cassey Lindberg, marketing specialist for Castrol Lubricants, is delighted to have the opportunity to help put on a display of top quality custom and classic vehicles for CRC Speedshow fans to enjoy.
“With Castrol EDGE, we are involved with some fantastic events and race teams – basically we’re all car-mad here. The Castrol EDGE Custom and Classic Show at CRC Speedshow is a brilliant way for us to show our support for what is set to be an exciting display of New Zealand’s premier customised vehicles,” says Lindberg.
Prevette plans to showcase the world-class custom-built chopper called Nehme-sis as part of the Castrol EDGE Custom and Classic Show. “Featuring 24 carat gold plating, this hot rod on two wheels will be a star feature in the heart of the custom and classic show in hall one.”
Owners of cars which could fit the categories for the Castrol EDGE Custom and Classic Show are invited to visit the CRC Speedshow website, www.speedshow.co.nz, and click on the Castrol EDGE show icon for more information about how to apply for entry to the show. Show visitors can also find news and information updated on a regular basis on the website, or visit the Facebook page www.Facebook.com/speedshownz.
